Constant Connectivity for Code Blue Help Points
American manufacturer, Code Blue Corporation, is a pioneer in emergency communications. To support the passengers of the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), they recently delivered over 120 Help Points® to New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). These emergency kiosks provide 24/7 access to emergency services around station platforms and public areas.
Challenge
To service passengers around the clock, Code Blue needed a device with constant connectivity for their Help Points. The device under consideration also had to be small enough to fit in the kiosk itself and be able to withstand different weather conditions and temperatures as the kiosks will be placed outdoors. To meet all their requirements, they turned to Access Wireless Data Solutions and US-based Peplink partner Frontier Computer Corp.
Solution
FrontierUS and Access Wireless worked together with Code Blue to deploy a MAX BR1 Mini in each emergency kiosk, connected to a Balance router in the Code Blue server. The Balance router acts as a SpeedFusion Hub and creates a high-availability communications network for each Help Point. In addition to this, all devices are connected to InControl 2, Peplink’s cloud-based endpoint management system.
Result
Thanks to this connectivity setup, Code Blue’s emergency kiosks, Help Points, service many passengers on the Long Island Rail Road 24/7. Peplink’s SpeedFusion technology provides Hot Failover, creating a virtually unbreakable connection, which is crucial for the Help Points.
To virtually monitor all devices, InControl 2 helps Code Blue remotely access the web administration of each device all on a single screen. This saves them configuration time and management resources without compromising the quality of their service.
“Peplink’s BR1 Mini met our needs at the right price point. [They] let us deploy Help Points anywhere in the world. We can do video, audio, and diagnostics and testing on these Help Points. We can deliver diagnostics back to the customers or to ourselves at Amazon Web Services. Plus, Peplink’s cloud-based device management platform InControl 2 allows us to visualize the whole network from a single location.”
